Foglight Strategic Direction

Dear Foglight Customers:

As we move deeper into Quest’s second full year as an independent company, we want to take a moment to update you on the progress we made in 2017, and share with you the strategic direction that we have set for Foglight in 2018 and beyond.

In 2018, we again plan to invest heavily in the Foglight for Databases and Foglight for Virtualization product lines. At the same time, we have made the difficult decision to retire the Foglight APM product line. Though we know that eliminating the APM product line will have an impact on some of you, we believe that the far more of you will benefit from the increased investment and focus on Foglight for Databases and Foglight for Virtualization that this decision affords. Below you will find more detailed updates for each of the primary Foglight product lines.

Foglight for Databases

Foglight for Databases continues to be our enterprise cross-platform database monitoring solution. Over the past year, we had more than 10 releases of the various database cartridges. Product improvements included:

In 2018, we will continue to invest heavily across the various commercial database cartridges and will extend Foglight to support new data platforms such as Hadoop. For more information, please see the Foglight for DB 2017 Summary and Look to the Future blog.

Foglight for Virtualization:

2017 saw Foglight for Virtualization expand with Rapid Recovery integration, the launch of hybrid cloud management, and product advancements across Hyper-V and VMware that include:

Looking ahead to 2018, Quest will continue to invest and grow Foglight for Virtualization with the introduction of container support, VM cloud migrations, and enhanced automation. In addition, Foglight for Virtualization will be integrated into dataprotection.quest.com, bringing the flexibility of the cloud to your hybrid datacenter. For more information, please see the Foglight for Virtualization – Year in Review blog.

Foglight APM

As noted earlier, we have made the decision to retire the Foglight APM portfolio of products, including Java, .Net, JMX, Real End User Monitoring, Foglight Experience Monitor, and Foglight Experience Viewer. We understand that this has the potential to be challenging for existing users, and we are committed to ensuring as smooth a transition as possible for those impacted. We will provide the full details to impacted customers within 2 weeks of this notification.

We know you likely have questions, and we are committed to answering them. Should you have any questions, please contact your sales rep.

Thank you again for your continued commitment and loyalty to Quest. We look forward to a successful future together.

Regards,
